The outcome of this election feels rewarding. A breath of fresh air. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, you should feel good.
For the first time in history, a woman is the next Vice President of the United States. A Black woman is the next Vice President. An Asian American woman is the next Vice President. There is finally representation in the White House. Someone for daughters to look up to, to confirm that they truly can do whatever they set their mind to, even being in the White House.
This historic win provides woman with legitimate hope. The possibilities are indeed endless, they are real.
Vice President Elect Kamala Harris’ presence in the White House also gives hope that the systematic racial injustices may begin to be addressed more thoroughly. Racial injustices have been at the forefront of conversations in 2020. Americans are rightfully fed up with the mistreatment of Black and Brown people. Every week it seems like there is a new incident of police brutality. It is beyond draining and it is time for the system to change. With an extensive background in the justice system, and being a Black woman, it is important to hold Kamala Harris and the White House accountable for pushing reform.
Right now is a time to celebrate this win. To be hopeful, excited and optimistic. To be thankful for the change of pace.
